The Senate is expected to vote today on a bill that would impose a tax on energy use by manufacturers, which would cost Evraz Rocky Mountain Steel in Pueblo an estimated $2 million annually, The Pueblo Chieftain reports. One state senator from the Pueblo area said Tuesday he will vote for the bill in the interest of balancing the state’s budget, while the other said he’ll oppose it in defense of area manufacturers. Sen. Abel Tapia, D-Pueblo, said he grudgingly will support HB1190. Sen. Ken Kester, R-Las Animas, said he will vote no.
