Herrera Suddenly Out As Colorado Senate Dems’ Policy Director

By Don Knox, STATE BILL COLORADO
One of three members of the Colorado Senate Democrats’ policy team suddenly is off of it.
Jennifer Herrera, Senate Majority policy director, last week left the majority’s employ, State Bill Colorado has learned. She was not laid off.
“Jennifer is no longer an employee with the state of Colorado,” Senate Democratic spokeswoman Abigail Vacanti said in an e-mail Monday. “That’s all I can say. This is a personnel issue, and we do not make any comments about personnel issues.”
Zach Zaslow, formerly senior policy and political adviser, now takes the post of policy director, Vacanti said. David Archer’s position as policy analyst remains the same.
State Bill Colorado could not reach Herrera on Monday because it didn’t have contact information for her beyond her state telephone number and e-mail address.
An online resume indicates Herrera most recently was an adjunct professor at Colorado Technical University (from 2005 to 2009). She received an education master’s in 1998 and a BA in comparative literature in 1995. In 2007, she made a bid for the Cherry Creek School Board that was unsuccessful.
